A second call came in from an informant who had heard shouts for help in Deep Gill above Lord’s Rake. Casualty was eventually located below Lord’s Rake at to lower end of Red Gill. The 42 yr old male casualty from the Bolton area was with a walking partner. He had fallen around 20 metres and sustained a fractured dislocation of his shoulder along with other injuries. The helicopter used on incident 68 was called back from Barrow to assist with the evacuation which was high on the crags and in a difficult location for winching due to severe downdrafts. He was eventually air lifted by stretcher and flown to West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven. 11 team members were involved and the incident was closed at 6.30 p.m.
Incident started at 15:30 and ended at 18:30 making 3 hrs in total. There were 11 Wasdale team members involved and the incident occured at NY 20552 06924 (altitude 721 m). Total rescuer hours: 33
