Are you, or do you know someone who might be interested in becoming a mountain rescue volunteer? 🏔️

Would you like to:
⭐ Be part of a team and help people in need
🥾 Get out in the fells
🎒 Learn new skills while using your existing experience
🤝 Support our local community

The team has been involved in some remarkable and challenging rescues over the years. However complex a rescue might be, it’s never a lone hero who saves the day. In fact, we don’t have any of those here. We are a team of people from all walks of life who care about helping those in need and each contribute to a collective effort.

💙Whilst there are lots of specialist skills in the team, we need new team members to be fit and able to move confidently in steep, mountainous terrain, (inc. navigating from local knowledge and using a map/compass), be caring and compassionate towards
those we help, able to work eƯectively with others and above all else willing to commit their time. Everything else we can support you to develop. 🧗‍♂️🗺️

As a new member, you can expect:
📅 A 12 month probationary period to develop into a mountain rescuer
🏔️ A friendly and welcoming team to get out and enjoy the fells with a culture of support and encouragement to apply new skills
🧑‍🏫 A mentor to support your knowledge, skills and behaviours
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 To be partnered with an experienced team member during rescues
🎯 Training to meet the competencies – with a focus on doing basic skills well.
❄️ Opportunities to extend personal experience through Scottish winter and Welsh summer mountaineering weekends.

🔗Applications close on 15th September 2026 📆

Ps. If you’re interested, but there’s a little voice in your head holding you back, we’d encourage you to come and speak to team members at one of the local events over the coming month, or arrange an informal chat through recruitment@wmrt.org.uk 💬
