Cumbria Police received multiple calls from members of the public reporting whistles and shouts for help. The MRT Team Leader investigated and, after speaking with callers, narrowed the location to the Scafell Crag / Lords Rake area.
A full team callout was initiated, with Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team requested due to low Wasdale numbers. Maritime and Coastguard Agency support was also requested because of the amount of technical equipment required.
Rescue 199 (Prestwick) was first on scene and located a lone male stuck on a grassy ledge. R199 was unable to carry out a pick‑off, so they uplifted all Wasdale and Duddon team members to the summit of Scafell.
A rope rescue system was set up, and a Duddon team member was lowered to the casualty, assessed him, and then continued the lower onto Lords Rake, where additional Duddon members assisted him down.
Once the rope system was de‑rigged, Rescue 897 (Carlisle) uplifted all personnel and equipment back to the vehicles and base.
Many thanks to Duddon and Furness MRT, Rescue 199, and Rescue 897 for their assistance.

Incident started at 14:13 and ended at 20:52 making 6.7 hrs in total. There were 7 Wasdale team members involved and the incident occured at NY 20746 06777. Total rescuer hours: 47
