The police paged the team following a ‘999’ call from an informant at Taw House Farm. A party of three male walkers, a father son and friend from the Wigan area were descending back into Eskdale from Scafell Pike when one slipped and broke his ankle. One of the party ran down to raise the alarm. The 52 yr old father was given analgesic, his ankle splinted and he was stretchered back down to the road head where an ambulance took him to West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven. missing walkers.
