Rescue of a female walker in her 20’s who was descending Great Gable in a party of four. She fell and sustained an open (compound) fracture of her tibia (lower leg). She was losing significant blood and in addition a further member of the group had an injury to her ankle and was struggling to walk. Around 15 team members attended and the two casualties were evacuated by Sea King helicopter to Whitehaven hospital. Incident closed at 9.00 p.m.
Incident started at 16:07 and ended at 21:00 making 4.9 hrs in total. There were 15 Wasdale team members involved and the incident occured at NY20865 10442 (altitude 741 m). Total rescuer hours: 74
