Cumbria Police received multiple reports of a person stuck under a rock or boulder and getting cold in the area of the Dropping Crag. Some location data came with these calls, but the Team Leader was unable to speak to the person directly. Because the incident could have been serious, Wasdale MRT, Duddon & Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team and Maritime and Coastguard Agency helicopter Rescue 899 (Prestwick) were deployed. The specialist team COMRU was also contacted about ways of moving large rocks, and began drawing up a plan in case they were needed.

Further reports then came in that a member of the public had helped the person free and they were now walking off. Rescue 899 stayed on scene until this was confirmed, and a team member who happened to be fell running in the area also confirmed all was well.

All teams were then stood down. The team thanks Duddon & Furness MRT, COMRU & the crew of Rescue 899 and the member of the public for their help.

Incident started at 18:29 and ended at 20:15 making 1.8 hrs in total. There were 14 Wasdale team members involved and the incident occured at NY 21538 07462. Total rescuer hours: 25
