The Team were called by the police to investigate a call from members of the public who had become stuck on an icy road travelling from St Bees to Kendal. After some detective work the likely location seemed to be Hard Knott Pass. A small group took a Team Landrover to investigate the call and located the family safe and well. They were escorted to the valley. The high passes become very icy on cold winter nights and the steep bends are difficult and often dangerous to negotiate.
Incident started at 19:30 and ended at 23:30 making 4 hrs in total. There were 4 Wasdale team members involved and the incident occured at NY 22613 01511 (altitude 328 m). Total rescuer hours: 16
