Diagnosis
While the team were concluding Incident 84, Cumbria Police received a call reporting that a female walker had fallen and twisted her ankle on Great Gable. As Wasdale, Cockermouth, and Duddon & Furness MRT were already on the hill, all three teams were able to deploy immediately to this second incident.
Cockermouth MRT were first on scene and carried out the initial assessment. Coastguard Rescue 897 (Carlisle) was requested, and once on scene they landed, treated the casualty, and transported her — along with team members — back to Wasdale Base. Coastguard Rescue 897 also assisted by returning additional personnel to base, which was greatly appreciated.
We are very fortunate to have helicopter assistance on these jobs and any jobs of the heat we currently having, as we have to look out for our own team members and the potential risk of exertional heat illness for the team.

Incident started at 16:30 and ended at 21:20 making 4.8 hrs in total. There were 12 Wasdale team members involved and the incident occured at NY 21455 10082. Total rescuer hours: 58
