The team was called by Police about a walker reported missing from a trip up Scafell Pike. As the walker was on their own, a search was mounted over night to try to locate them. Team members from Wasdale and Duddon teams searched areas around Scafell Pike. Around 0600 the Duddon team made a find under Chambers Crag on the east face of Scafell Pike. Due to the difficult location further support was requested and the Cockermouth Team also joined the rescue along with the Coastguard helicopter from Caernarfon. Unfortunately the walker did not survive their injuries and our thoughts are with their family and friends.
Incident started at 23:50 and ended at 12:00 making 12.2 hrs in total. There were 16 Wasdale team members involved and the incident occured at NY 2181 0716. Total rescuer hours: 195
