We were called by Cumbria Police about a lone walker who had become separated from his friends at the top of Scafell Pike. They had not been able to locate him on the descent or in the valley. Wasdale and Duddon and Furness teams searched overnight without success, and the search resumed in the morning, with more resources.
We were joined by Duddon and Furness MRT again, Keswick MRT, Cockermouth MRT, and RAF Leeming, plus 2 search dogs. Coniston team were stood down before deployment.
The walker was found in the early afternoon above Dropping Crag and sadly had not survived. He was brought back down to the valley where he was then cared for by the police.
Very many thanks to all who helped.
We offer our heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends.
