Scafell Pike – Fri 19th Sep 2008 – Alert

‘999’ call from a group of ’13 Three Peakers’ lost on Scafell Pike. The Team Leader spoke to them by mobile and established that they had a GPS. The group could gave a reasonably accurate grid reference for their location but had no map with which to see where they were. They were given directions over the phone and guided back over Lingmell Col and onto the decent path. The incident was closed at 00:15 hrs after a series of phone calls to ensure that they were confirmed to be well down towards Wasdale Head.
