Our 100th alert for the year from a calling authority was received from Cumbria Police on Saturday evening. A walker was suffering from the cold and wet conditions and was reported to be taking shelter in what sounded very much like the Keswick MR stretcher box at Styhead. As such, the Team Leader contacted his counterpart in Keswick MR and the tasking was transferred to them (see their callout 68 for more details).
Ask yourself three questions before you set off:
1. Do I have the right GEAR ?
2. Do I know what the WEATHER will be like?
3. Am I confident that I have the KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS for the day?
